This throw is called "Double" because of how they weave it - basically two layers of fabric become one piece, which is way cooler than it sounds. STUDIO MLR designed it using 100% merino wool, and here's the thing about merino - it's ridiculously soft but also tough as hell. The whole blanket is about 71 by 49 inches, so it's big enough to actually cover two people on a couch without anyone hogging it. You get these two different but matching colors on each side - the beige/off-white combo is perfect if you're not into loud patterns but still want something interesting. And it weighs almost nothing considering the size, which is honestly weird until you feel how they've woven it. Most heavy blankets make you feel trapped under them. This one doesn't.

The craftsmanship comes from Northern India, where they've been making textiles forever. Not like "oh we started a factory here because labor's cheap" but actual generations of people who know what they're doing with wool and looms. You can tell the difference immediately - the edges don't fray, nothing pills after washing, and it gets softer over time instead of rougher. Merino wool does this temperature thing where you don't get overheated but you also don't freeze, which is perfect for people who are always too hot or too cold under regular blankets. Works great on beds, draped over chairs, or just for wrapping yourself up when you're being lazy on weekends.

Woud found the right person for this project in Marie-Louise Rosholm, who runs STUDIO MLR and has been doing textile design for thirty years. She started in Milan, moved to Copenhagen, and really gets how fabric should work in real homes rather than just looking pretty in photos. That's exactly what Mia and Torben Koed were going for when they started Woud - connecting with people who actually understand their craft and can make things that last. The Double throw isn't trying to be the most exciting thing in your house. It's trying to be the thing you reach for every time you want to get comfortable, and it succeeds completely at that.
